Terri Schiavo Life Issue

Terri Schiavo Life Issue

Constitution Party of Florida

The Constitution Party has maintained a strong stand for life since its founding in 1992. We affirm that the U.S. Constitution protects all life — the unborn, the infirm, and the elderly.

Our Florida party stands in strong opposition to the denial of further life to Terri Schiavo, upon the decision of judges and to the overruling of even the Governor of Florida, Jeb Bush. This ought not to be, for even a condemned criminal, a prisoner of war, or an animal would not be denied as little as a sip of water to cool her parched tongue and to keep her from further pain.

Terri Schiavo is being denied life without a fair trial as provided for in the 5th Amendment of the Constitution: “. . . nor shall any person . . . be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law. . .” Terri has not had a day in court, nor even been given the opportunity to be heard concerning her desire to live. Governor Bush should not allow himself to be overruled by any judge. If a governor has the privilege to grant a reprieve to a criminal, he certainly has the power to grant the continuance of life to this innocent one whom the courts have condemned.

God may rightly hold him responsible for the life of this woman and godly voters will remember this decision at the polls.
